In response to the incident, Hopkinton police promptly issued a warning to local drivers, advising them to avoid the affected area and seek alternative routes. Traffic was notably affected, particularly as the collapse coincided with the dismissal times of local high and middle schools, resulting in increased foot traffic in the vicinity.
