Indianapolis – Three people are dead following a disturbance between two groups that escalated into a late-night shooting in northwest Indianapolis. The incident occurred just before midnight on September 29, 2023, in the 4500 block of Guion Road, near the intersection with Ansar Lane, within the Snacks-Guion Creek neighborhood.
Upon receiving reports of the shooting, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene to find 29-year-old Antonio Vazquez Molina outside suffering from a gunshot wound. In addition, 22-year-old Jose Manuel Castellanos-Morales and another unidentified victim were discovered shot inside a nearby vehicle. Emergency medical personnel on-site pronounced Vazquez Molina and the unidentified individual dead at the scene. Castellanos-Morales was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
As of September 30, 2023, the Marion Coroner’s Office has yet to release the identity of the third victim who was shot. Moreover, police have not announced any suspect or made any arrests related to this incident.
This shooting follows a recent surge of violence in Indianapolis, with a significant incident occurring just a week and a half prior, when 15 individuals were shot during a weekend. Notably, on September 21, five people were shot in the 6800 block of Shore Terrace, resulting in two fatalities; the victims were identified as 29-year-old Dante Lynn Hogans and 31-year-old Rodney Allen Taylor. This shooting took place approximately two miles from where the Guion Road shooting occurred. Additionally, on September 20, three individuals were shot in the 5600 block of Georgetown Road when an assailant fired a weapon into a crowd.
Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to reach out to Detective Christopher Morgan at the IMPD Homicide Office to assist in the ongoing investigation.
